HELLO NIMITZ ASSOCIATION!!!

 We are getting closer to the time to gather together in Savannah, Ga. for our 16th annual reunion. So fill out those registration forms and mail them to Jim Disney. Then get on the phone and make your hotel reservations, your shipmates want to see you in Savannah!  Scholarship candidates also need to get their applications in for the Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz Scholarship Award. The deadline date is Aug.18 to get all this done.

 We have only scheduled a few group events for Savannah so you will have plenty time of to see Savannah on your own or with other shipmates. Savannah has plenty of attractions for you to visit and see at a very reasonable cost. The restaurants are great and offer plenty of choices at good prices. Night life in Savannah is plentiful and most is within walking distance of our hotel. You may want to stay in Savannah an extra day or two to see all Savannah has to offer.

  The reunion begins on Wednesday Sept. 18 with a welcome aboard reception in the hospitality room at 1800 with finger foods and drinks. On Thursday, there will be an all hands meeting at 0800followed by a members only meeting a 0900 and at around 1000 we will board the trolley for the Old Town Savannah on/off tour. Friday we travel to Old Fort Jackson and weather permitting, they will fire an old cannon for us. Later in the evening, we will attend a high energy stage show at the historic Savannah Theater. This production is professionally performed by an award-winning cast and orchestra, acclaimed by many as Savannah’s #1 downtown entertainment extravaganza!   Saturday, after a members only meeting at 0800, and a wives meeting at 0800, you will have the day to yourself until we gather for pictures at or about 1700. The Grand Banquet will begin at 1800.  Look  forward to some great food and some time to visit with old friends.  Attire for the banquet is dress casual.  After the banquet we gather in the hospitality room for the silent auction winners.
